Commentating without looking with Aljazeera

Commentating a game of cricket is not something that most of us can manage.

Doing it without the use of your sight seems near impossible.

But here we meet a man who has built a career upon it.

Dean du Plessis is the world’s first – and only – visually impaired cricket commentator.

Based in Zimbabwe, he uses sounds generated by the bowlers’ drag and batsmen’s bat to comment on proceedings.

He would love to become a full time cricket journalist! Know anyone who could help make it happen for him…..

Similar report from the Agence France-Presse

Dean du Plessis was born blind but makes a living by ‘watching’ cricket. The Zimbabwean commentates on matches by listening to the speed and spin of the ball, as well as players’ reactions, keeping track of the score by memory.
