Guinness World Record Attempt: Longest Ever Rugby Union Match

Scotty

On the 15 & 16 August, just a month before the start of the Rugby World Cup, two teams will go head-to-head in an attempt to create a Guinness World Record for the longest ever rugby union match!

The event is supported by a host of well-known rugby names: Ben Kay and George Chuter.

Two normal teams of 22 players, playing within the normal laws of the game, will attempt to play for 30 hours! Why are we telling you this? Because your company can use the event to get some great exposure and unique content around rugby at the time when the world’s eyes are on the sport.

Stories of teamwork, determination and endurance will run through the content that we can give you and that we will release globally through our media partner, RugbyDump.

The teams will be representing two amazing charities. The School of Hard Knocks is a Charity Partner of the Rugby Business Network, they are a social inclusion charity that uses rugby as a platform to help people realise their full potential in life. You might have seen the Sky TV show with Scott Quinnell and Will Greenwood.

They will play Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a charity dedicated to supporting bereaved British Forces children.

So, as you can see, it’s a great event for two great causes. We are asking members of the Rugby Business Network to help us raise funds but this isn’t a charity donation; this is a great marketing opportunity.

For a small amount of money, you can get:

• unique and exclusive rugby content for use through your own channels,

• exposure through the charities’ channels and RugbyDump,

• be part of a Guinness World Record Attempt,

• AND you can make a big difference to these two charities and to the lives of the hundreds of people they support.

Sponsorship is welcome from as little as £1k for player sponsorship and we are also looking for category partners and a main partner. Please get in touch with Sophie Morris at Millharbour Marketing on 020 8293 7915 or sophie@millharbourmarketing.com if you will help.

Ken Cowen, founder of the School of Hard Knocks, will be at the RBN event on the 22nd July to tell you more about the World Record attempt, the preparations, as well as the two charities. We hope to see you there!
