From a friend of mine for a worthy cause #PMB #prizes

This is almost, but not quite, another email to inspire / cajole you into generously opening your hearts and wallets in support of our project in South Africa to transform what is available for people with mental illness and learning disability.

On the August Bank Holiday weekend (26th August 2012) thirty five people, from young (8) to at least middle-aged, will be climbing Mount Snowdon in Wales to raise money for Climb Any Mountain

Climb Any Mountain is a not-for-profit organisation, and we have partnered with the Pietermartizburg (PMB) Mental Health Society in South Africa who are equally committed to building and delivering services and  supported housing that fosters independence for people with learning disability and mental illness. This is a new alternative to institutional care, which is the norm in South Africa.   I was personally inspired to found and set up Climb Any Mountain, as my younger sister Cara is faced with a future of institutional care as she is no longer able to live with my parents – I’m committed to Cara and others in her position, having a future where she gets to choose and create a life that she loves, that challenges her and gives her the opportunity to develop and to participate in- and contribute to- society.  The dream has become tangibly real as land is secured for the building, powerlines are being laid, the architectural drawings are in process after aligning on the specifications, staffing is assigned, provision of services are secured and a training programme in planning.  All monies raised from Climb Mount Snowdon 2012 will go towards the physical build of the project and / or activities to raise large donor funding from Corporations (Corporate Social Responsibility Funds) and Trust Funds to cover the costs of the build.

I say this is not quite the same email you may have received from me before, because this year instead of just giving… you can get something back in return!  In return for purchasing a raffle ticket / several raffle tickets you have the opportunity to win some great prizes to reward your generosity:

1st Prize –  Spa Vouchers to admit two for the day to luxurious PennyHill Park’s The Spa  in Surrey for a day of pampering, rest and relaxation, worth £100

2nd Prize – Gorgeous hamper of Circaroma  Organic Skin Care Products, worth £100

3rd Prize – Body Vacation Sports, Deep Tissue or Relaxation Massage (3 sessions), worth £100

4th Prize – Dinner for two at Yum Yum  in London – award winning Thai Restaurant, worth £70

Tickets cost £10.  You can pay in cash, or purchase online – click on   Ticket sales close at midday on Wednesday 3rd October, and the prize draw will take place between 19h00 and 23h00 on that Wednesday night.  You do have to be resident in the UK, and over 16 to participate in the raffle.

If you don’t meet those criteria, you are most welcome to simply sponsor – any amount, large or small will be greatly appreciated.   Climb Any Mountain is not yet registered as a charity, so to pledge money you can make payments to: Climb Any Mountain; Account No. 71880357; sort code 40-02-16 in the UK or donate via our site:

If you are in the UK and would like to take part by walking and camping – it’s not too late!  We have a small window to accept more people to take part. If you are walking – you can make a day of it, or a whole bank holiday weekend of it. Camping and bunkhouse accommodation is available.  A BBQ will take place as a celebration at the end of the event.  Drop me an email if you, or any friends you know would like to take part.
